We recently posted a how-to video on reusing our liners as a planter liner (linked here). Here is another way to do that.

Remove the plastic film and line all sides of the planter with KODIAKOTTON®.

In this example, we are simply transplanting a tomato plant into this planter.

We added gardening soil, set the tomato plant in so it lines up with the top of the planter, and then filled the rest of the planter with the soil, covering KODIAKOTTON® as well.

That’s it! Super easy and works beautifully.

In our last post with this reuse idea, we used the poly film to line the planter as well. This was just to add extra protection to the old wooden planter we were using. With a metal planter (we repurposed an old mop bucket) the poly film was not necessary here. Use your judgement with your materials – and feel free to comment on this post with any questions!

UPDATE: The tomato plant and the planter are THRIVING!

Our KODIAKOTTON® Natural Fiber insulated liners are made up primarily of cotton, with a small amount of polyester, and a nontoxic binder that holds the fibers together.

The KODIAKOTTON® pads are sealed in a recyclable film with a proprietary additive to promote biodegradation.

Our liners (with and without the poly film) and carboard boxes are nontoxichypoallergenic, and have no evidence of carcinogenicity. They are safe to reuse in many applications – such as a weed barrier, in a compost, and even as a pet bed. Get creative!
